Friday Favorites: My New Door Wreath

This is my new door wreath!  I made it last week while watching Mamma Mia for the umpteenth time. I love that movie!!!

It's really easy and simple to make.
You just need a grapevine wreath, wine corks, shells, ribbon, and a hot glue gun.

Simply just hot glue gun the wine corks to the wreath in any which way you want, wrap a ribbon around the wreath, secure with hot glue, and then add sea shells with the hot glue gun.

The reason I love this wreath is because, I've been saving up wine corks for a long time for this project.  I've also has Momma B help in saving these corks.  I know, that's a lot of wine, but when you think about it... that also means we've had a lot of great times.  The same goes for the shells, every beach I visit, I like to collect shells, some of the shells are shells I've found at beaches over the years all over.  So when I look at the wreath, I see memories- All of them great!

If you don't have a bunch of corks saved up, you can also go to a craft store and buy them. Same with the shells.

If you're not a crafty person and want me to make you one, just email me and we can figure it out!!  I've already been "commissioned" by Momma B to make her one too. :)

Delayed

Well, we're NOT leaving today as we had planned...
Our flight kept getting delayed this morning and it was so delayed that we would have missed our connection.  There weren't any other flights going down to Tortola or St. Thomas or St. Marten, so we are trying this again tomorrow morning at 5:30 AM... landing at 5:00 PM.  Just about a 12 hour travel day! So it's going to be an early night for Tommy, his older brother and his wife- Mandy, and I.
Mom, dad, and 2 younger brothers made it down this afternoon and already on the boat. I'm a bit jealous!
But this time tomorrow we'll be on a boat (hopefully)!!! :)
Wish us good luck for tomorrow!!!

PS- even though we won't have any phone or internet services (i think), I'm leaving my laptop at home.  I've got some posts ready for you all to enjoy while I'm away.  I can't wait to get back and catch up with everyone!
Have a great week!!!

I'm Sailing Away...

We are leaving on our sailing trip to the BVI's today.
No internet, no phone... which translates to no blog, no twitter, no facebook, no foursquare.
This is going to be a lot of FUN!
It's going to be me, Tommy, Momma B, Dad B, Tommy's 2 younger brothers - Kevin and Danny, Tommy's older brother- Joey, and his wife- Mandy. Basically: Mom, dad, 4 sons, and 2 girls.

Here's the boat we are renting and are captaining ourselves.
Other sights of the British Virgin Isles...

Settin' sail... Will update again when we get back!!!

Pink and Green Thursday- Party Style

This week I've decided to play along with my girl Trish over at Pink Preppy Lilly Lover with her Pink and Green Thursday.  Just the other day, while watching the Today show, they were talking about summer party themes and lo and behold: there was a cute pink and green themed party. How Cute!
Check out the video clip of the report embedded below:

They mention Caspari and I went ahead and checked it out. I just love the toile prints. The toile wrapping paper is double sided. I will definitely have to get some!  I just LOVE toile!

They also mention Party City.. while browsing the site, I saw this really cute paper plate that says: "Eat, Drink, and be Girly!"  Just adorable!

And just like she says: What's a preppy party without Lilly Pulitzer drink umbrellas?!?!
What about a Lilly Pulitzer shaker to shake up some fun spirits???

It's the almost weekend! Tomorrow, I'm going to have my first visitors: Tommy's Cousin Kristen and her son, Ethan (Tommy's Godson).  They are coming in for Tommy's youngest brother's high school graduation on Saturday.  I'll be busy baking the graduation cake Thursday and putting it together on Friday. Tommy finally comes home for good Friday night! (I'm super excited!!! I've missed him) Saturday is the graduation and the party. Sunday is the final day for packing and then we're off sailing the BVI's for a week.

Home invaders!!!

After a weekend away in Radford, VA and Blacksburg, VA for my future brother in law's Baseball State championship game, I came home to quite a few home invaders!
Of course my first reaction was to scream!!! I was surprised my neighbors didn't come.
(Tommy is still in NoVa working out of that office until the end of this week.)
Then I told my dog to "Go Get 'Em"!  He just looked at me, grabbed a toy and wanted to play.
I threw my shoe at one of them, and they got away.
The other one in my bedroom suffered a painful death...
I screamed and slammed the door on him while he was between the door.
That night I was so shaken up I slept with the lights on all night long.
The next morning, I got up and decided I need to protect my new home.
I fogged it, put a barrier around the outside of my house, and spent the night at my future in laws.
The next morning, there were a bunch of dead ones through out the house.

Take THAT roaches and other buggies!!!

There were a ton in the garage in all different sizes.  We probably should have fogged the day we moved in.  I would totally recommend that to anyone moving into a resale home.  Who knows what's lurking around the walls?  The house was empty when we moved in, and it sure seemed very clean, but then again they do like to hide and come out at night.  All I can say is YUCK! I hate roaches, I hate bugs!  They give me the hebejeebees!  Thank goodness for Raid Foggers and Raid Bug Barrier!  I can now feel like I've reclaimed my home and can sleep in peace!

Update 3: Happy 2nd Birthday Ethan!

Tommy's godson celebrated his second birthday in May.  He's getting to be a big boy and just too cute!  Everytime he sees me, he always has a big ole smile!  He calls me his girlfriend... make Tommy a lil jealous. hahaha.  So this year, I was in charge of the birthday cake, I did his first birthday cake last year, and it was a hit! I love baking and cake decorating, so of course I enjoyed it!  I've never been taught how to decorate cakes... just taught myself.  I do want to take an official cake decorating class.  I know that the local Michael's stores have the Wilton classes.  I need to just sign up for them.  Has anyone ever taken those classes?

Here's last year's cake:

And the birthday boy covered in cake:

This year's party was baseball themed, so I made a baseball field cake:

It was a fun cake... the cake was funfetti with buttercream frosting and strawberry filling, and the "dirt" was made with brown sugar.  Last year Ethan didn't really know what to do with the cake.  This year, he couldn't wait! He kept saying "cake".  When the cake was put on the table in front of him, he just wanted to get to it. It was his "happy day".  And it truly was a happy day.

XOXO
