Friday Favorites- Starfish love

Happy Friday!!!!

The weekend can now begin!

As most of you know, I'm a beach girl through and through.  One of my favorite things that remind me of the beach are starfish.  I have yet to find one on the Virginia or North Carolina Coast in the "wild", but I did see them at the bottom of the ocean in the BVI.
They're not naturally pink as far as I know, but this picture was just awesome!
I wouldn't mind taking a trip here...
Or even here!
These guys look like they're from the Carribean! I have one of them in my living room!
This is how I pretty much pack to go to the beach... sunglasses, camera, cute bag: check, check, check!
Oh white finger starfish... how I love you!
Starfish as hair accessories? Love it! Now I wonder how she got them to say in her hair?

The anklet is my newest jewelry addition from the Outer Banks!! :) Starfish charm dangling off of a twisted box anklet. A perfect addition to my starfish toe rings! (yes those are my toes in the sand)

Twinkle, Twinkle Little Starfish... How I love the sea you come from... In the ocean oh so blue... Oh maybe that's not how it goes, and maybe I just made it up, but it works for me! :)
Have a great Friday my friends!
XOXO

I'm down in the Outer Banks and yesterday was a hot one!!! I hope that today cools down just a tad and the water warms up a bit too.  The water here is only 63 degrees chilly.  It's the kind of chilly that numbs your legs.

Wedding Planning Wednesday- BLING BLING!!!

It's in!!! We ordered my wedding band and it came back yesterday.  My engagement ring was custom designed by Tommy, so we had to send the ring back to the jewelers so that they could design the wedding band to fit perfectly.  We actually sent the ring before our trip to BVI, thinking that I'd only be a week or two without my ring.  However, in order for them to even begin work on the ring, they needed payment info which we didn't find out until we got back from BVI.
So here's the ring!!!!
If you haven't seen my engagement ring, here it is too:

See how the band fits perfectly??? I absolutely LOVE the rings and am so happy!  They were really great to work with, so if any of you need a great jeweler, email me and I'll send you our guy's contact info!  The jeweler is Union Diamond and are actually based in Atlanta and will work with anyone... Tommy did his ring design via email and phone.  Tommy's older brother also got his wife's rings from this jeweler too!  Both of us are very, very happy with our rings.

Hope you are all having a great week!!! I'm down in one of my happy places for a week and a half- OBX. I'm just relaxing and enjoying the company of family and friends at the family beach house (which does get rented out, if anyone is interested).

XOXO

Our Boat in the BVI

Continuing to update on our trip to the BVI...
Let's start with our boat.
It was a 4 Cabin Power Catamaran that we rented through the Moorings.
Side view of the boat

View from the back (Tommy and I kayaked right under the boat through the opening!!! )

Another view of the boat

To get from shore to shore, we had to moor the boat and then take a dinghy onto land. Danny was the Dinghy Captain.  This is a picture of the crew meeting the dive boat to go diving. I wasn't certified to go diving yet :(

This is the front of the boat where we laid out or sat and read books.

Main Controls on the flybridge.

The saloon area where we ate or just hung out.

Indoor control area

The kitchen complete with gas stove, sink, microwave, and coffee maker.

Our room... there were 3 more like it.

Our shower.

Looking down into our room

Just to give you an idea of the layout:

It was nice.  We even had AC so on the hot nights we could sleep comfortably. :) The boat was very comfortable and can actually sleep 12 (the saloon table turns into a double bed). We only had 8 of us, so it was really perfect.  With the different deck areas of the boat, it was easy to get away for some quiet time if we so needed.
I did get a little seasick, but thankfully, we had Dramamine and my future brother in law had the patches which lasts for 3 days.
I would do this again in a heartbeat!  Even if it weren't on a fancy boat.
We're already starting our next savings pot to go again in a couple years!

Too Cute Shoes

Not that I'm Shopping for shoes or anything, but I saw these shoes from my email and well... I got sucked into shoe shopping....

Elizabeth Brady on sale at RowNine.  If you're not a member at RowNine, get your free invite here.
Marc by Marc Jacobs
Turtle Xing Sandals - Lilly Pulitzer (I just loooooooove the turtles!)
Shell Yeah - Lilly Pulitzer
I couldn't have the Turtle Xing sandals without the Shell Yeah sandals!!  Soooo beachy!

These are just so colorful and classy.
Couldn't do a post on shoes without some pink shoes!!! :)  These actually look really comfy and summery.
Crocs

I've always thought Crocs were soooo ugly until I was in a bind and needed some cheap shoes for the beach.  My flip flop straps were sitting right on a spider bite I'd gotten in the middle of the night and my flip flops were killing my feet. So on a shopping trip to a local shoe shop just before the season closed in OBX, I bought a pair of Crocs. I LOVED them.  They have been my go to shoes for comfort, for walking 'round the beach, the yard, or the boat.  I've heard they're actually good for you! So, now I'm wondering do I look into other kinds of Crocs?  Does anyone own the trendier looking Crocs? like the flip flop or heeled versions?

8 Inches do Matter!

Home improvement project 1- Remove old 6 inch sink and install new 8 inch sink with a garbage disposal.
We've finally started and completed our first home improvement project.
We moved into our home and have been using our 6 inch deep shallow sink.  It has been extremely frustrating to wash dishes in... you can barely fit pots and pans in it, cutting boards just splash water everywhere when you try to wash them, and to fill our pots we had to use the sprayer hose. So needless to say, we needed a new and deeper sink ASAP.
We didn't want to spend too much money on anything fancy because we have a lot more projects to complete. As everyone says, "Welcome to home ownership!". We went to Lowes and bought a brand new 8 inch deep stainless steel sink and a new garbage disposal spending about $100 on the sink and $79 on this disposal.  We had a gift certificate as a housewarming gift and a couple coupons to use, so we saved some bucks! :)
Neither Tommy or I have ever did any kind of plumbing, so we had no idea what else we needed to purchase or what steps were reburied to install the sink and disposal. Luckily my dad is really handy and he came over to help Tommy and I install the new sink. The original plan was for him to come over to help us, instead he did it.  We helped holding here and there or handing over this and that, but dad pretty much did it all. He's awesome! We did learn a few things here and there. Thanks dad! I love you!

Our new sink!!! :)
After the sink was installed, I made dinner for the 2 men in my life. :)  I made barbeque pork and wonton noodle soup.  My dad really liked it. It's so easy to make.

Hope you all had a great weekend and did something fun!
